The Book: Generational Fathering
This site will be more like a filly at the teat. Good conformation, color, and marking are fine, but there is a lot of time and milk and then some hard riding and breaking before it reaches it’s potential.
In other words, here we provide an expanding outline of the book that has its roots deep in our hearts. Some of your ideas and stories will become part of the larger story God is aiming to write here.
Gary Taylor and Matt Pettit, father and son-in-law, are the co-authors of the book being shaped by our lives, our vision, and the participation of other members of the outfit. Join up, and POST your comments. Be part of the ride.
As the book’s skeleton develops, our reader-contributors' comments will add meat to those bones. Ideas, insights, experiences, and especially your personal stories will give life to our core idea: Good fathering is a daunting task that has not gone all that well since The Garden. It is best not done alone, but fulfilled with the wisdom of the ages and the wisdom of the generations. This includes the generations near and far on the family tree, great grandfather who pioneered wheat farms in Kansas and the one who died leaving love letters to his wife--and our great grandmother--before he died in the Battle of the Bulge.
OUTLINE AND IDEAS for GENERATIONAL FATHERING
This is the book's Smithy shop. We forge your ideas to ours. Posting with with your ideas and questions will be added as the outline develops. (To cinch up on the concepts and on just how Matt's and Gary’s story underwrites it, see WHAT IS A GENERATIONAL FATHER?)
